What is Fear? Fear is the illusion of separation — separation from love, from truth, from God. But when the heart bows in surrender to love, fear dissolves like mist before the sun.

Last week’s Journey Within talk was all about fearlessness, following the launch of my new free ebook, “Fearlessness”. Here’s an excerpt;

Fear is a contraction of the heart, a pulling away from truth, from life and reality. In some limited contexts, fear and anxiety are qualities which can be useful to protect us from danger, or to stay true to a goal or deadline but this is not what we are talking about here. We are talking about the constant living with fear, the constant overwhelming feeling, we are talking about the illusion of separateness, the forgetting of the divine presence within and without. Fear comes from clinging—to identity, to the body, to outcomes.

The Bhagavad Gita teaches that fearlessness is the foundation of wisdom. When Arjuna trembled on the battlefield, when his mind was clouded by doubt and not by his ability, Krishna reminded him: “You grieve for those who should not be grieved for, yet you speak words of wisdom. The wise do not grieve for the living or the dead.” (Bhagavad Gita 2.11)
