Namaste,
‘Friendship to the happy,
Compassion to the distressed,
Joy to the virtuous,
Equanimity to the impious,
This is how clarity and calmness of mind is achieved.’ Yoga Sutras 1.33
As people on ‘the path’, we want to remove negative emotions and remain as pure as possible. One a practical level, this can be difficult considering the nature of the world we live and work in. It is easy to become judgemental of those we think do wrong, criticising others, becoming envious, and jealous. Patanjali’s advice will help us to deal with people in a Sattvic state (mode of goodness).
This is true yoga and Hinduism in action, relevant for believers and non-believers alike. It is an excellent guide for not only every relationship but every human interaction we have.
Wishing you all the best,
